Mr. Thomaspaul & I Love Me Some Pillows

Well I'm totally confessing my love for PILLOWS!!!! Yes it is now out and I feel so much better. This week I found out that it is so much better to purchase pillow covers instead of purchasing pillows. Pillows are like magic, they can transform a room instantly, talking about a room makeover, just add or switch out a couple of pillows. This week while thrifting at the SA(Salvation Army), I ran across this beautiful pillows, it was new, the fabric was a cute brown and white linen with a blossom print flower. Wow I thought do I really need this pillow? I have so many pillows which room would I use it in? I then turned around and found  the twin in a cart, OK so there were two of them. After a careful evaluation I found a hidden zipper. I noticed that this was actually a pillow case and it was well made the quality was really nice. I unzipped the case and noticed that it was hand sewn in India and it was made by Thomaspaul. Who is Thomaspaul?? I went to high school with a guy name Paul Thomas? OK I broke down and decided to purchase these pillows. It is so funny how they price the items one pillow was $5.06 and the other was $4.00 dollars.

When I got home I decided to Google Mr. Thomaspaul to find out more about my pillows. Well I did find out that he is a designer and make beautiful items for the home including rugs, pillows and lamp shades. While searching I found my pillows here  http://www.burkedecor.com/Blossom-Pillow-in-Java-by-Thomas-Paul-p/ln-0011-jav.htm.  Thanks again SA, now in which room can I put these.     

Black or White?

Recently, while on one of my little HomeGoods shopping trips I found this little fella.


 He was just siting there on the shelf waiting for me to take him home. I just knew when I saw him that he would look so elegant sitting in my foyer waiting to greet my guest. I saw one on Moth Design http://moth-design.blogspot.com/2010/10/friday-style-find.html  I had been searching for one on Ebay and Craiglist. I did find a couple of these greyhounds on Ebay, but the price was out of my league. So when I found this one I actually screamed.

OK my dilemma is this, should I paint him black or just keep him white? I was thinking about spray painting him black and lining his collar in crystal diamonds. What do you guys think?

My Thrift Store Find

On Friday after a long exhausting week of work I decided to stop by the thrift store just to browse I truly find it relaxing. Well over in the corner wrapped in tape look at what I found. I didn't even have to unwrap it  I could see the colors on the end and this rug looked familiar. Well when the manager quoted me a price of $25.00 dollars, it was a done deal!!!!!!!!

I ran to the register to pay for it.    

 

When I got home I unwrapped my rug and this is it. I loved the colors and it is new no spots or stains at all. While my dog Chichi was checking out my new rug I started my research, on the back of the rug was the measurements on a tag from Target, so I quickly went to Target website to see if I could find it.  I had noticed this rug at Target a few months ago.Well, well, it was featured on their website as the Home Azul  Floral Wool Rug-Blue/Brown the measurements were 78" x 120".  I knew that I had scored when I looked at the price of $349.99.......OMG.  OK, this will be the perfect rug for my office with a huge savings of $324.00 dollars. Thanks SA.( The Salvation Army receives Target items).

Well the colors are perfect with these $40.00 dollar thrift store chairs my daughter found me. Oh check out my bird print pillow from West Elm, another thrift find for $2.45. Stay tune I'm planning to reveal my office soon.

A Day of Shopping

Happy Saturday,
 We survived the blizzard of 2011. OK, now that the streets are all clear of the snow I felt that today would be the perfect day to do a little shopping. Well let me tell you guys a great spot to score some beautiful items for your home. BURLINGTON COAT FACTORY. Well they sell more than just coats. I love this store for adding nice pieces to my rooms, and the prices are great.

I'm pulling items together for my office/mom cave, so I've been keeping my eye's peeled for items for the room. Today I went to several stores (Marshall's, T.J. Maxx, Kohl's, Burlington Coat Factory). Here are some of the items that I found at Burlington. I really don't know if Burlington is in every city, but if you have one in your area stop and take a look. Wait and of course I checked out a thrift store and found my buy for the day.

Cute little owl lamp for just $19.99

I really like these garden stools, I have seen these on some websites for hundreds of dollars, this one was only $29.99 and the quality was great, it was a heavy piece. 

            Another cute garden stool, this one is $59.00 dollars, I'll keep my eye on this one for my office.

They have tons of accent pillows, this one is nice and have great splashes of color for the spring.

Nice white accent pieces and the owl is really cute.

Nice colors for $12.00 dollars.

These are huge and for $49.00 dollars in black & white.

Another huge mirror, this should go on sale soon, it's been there for a while. It's a little to rich for my blood at $99.99.

I love this little croc-print stool/ottoman and for $20.00 dollars. I really don't have any room for it so I left it.

Chicago Blizzard 2011

I know that you guys have heard that Chicago is under a severe blizzard. The weather forcast informed us that we have received up to 22 inches of snow in some areas. Most businesses are closed due to the snow and people not being able to make it to work. The snow made it impossible for people to move their parked cars. All the schools has closed due to the heavy snow fall. I also had to take the day off work, so with that being said.... how will I spend my snow day? Well I took a couple of pictures from my front door. This may be a great day to do a small DIY project. I've been considering doing a gallery wall in my bedroom, or maybe finishing spray painting my daughter dresser.Maybe watch a movie on Netflix. Wonder if the resale is open? Anywho, I know I will enjoy my day.
